Metal Maid Mystique – Iconic Erotica; Abstract assemblage of metal pieces recreating the sensual shape and form of an intimate part of female anatomy. Size: 10cm x 10cm/4” x 4”.

A recent artwork of the lips of the Mons Venus reproduces the image of the vagina in shaped and beaten aluminium, copper and stainless steel. The hand-crafted components take on the natural form in an abstract, almost mystical way.

Inspirations and Stimulation

The initial idea was inspired by Art Nouveau and Art Deco to produce a decorative iconic image. It is one of a series called AroMA (Area of Male Attention) since they echo the Mons Venus and Vagina.

Francisco Erotica artworks derive from admiring the female figure harking back, naturally, as a teenage grammar schoolboy.  However Metal Maid Mystique – Iconic Erotica results from the heady liberated days of exploration and experimentation of 60s art college.

Metal Maid Mystique – Iconic Erotica, though small in size is almost tangible in its creation and comes inits own dedicated box frame.

Showing One’s Metal

Chris Francis’s first experience of seriously studying and painting the female nude was, aged 16, at classes at an art school before going on to art college.

In the following 55+ years Chris Francis has produced thousands of drawings, paintings, carvings and latterly these petite three-dimensional assemblages.

Chris Francis’s rendition has progressed from figurative artworks of different shape, size and colour through to the abstract: All capturing the sensuality that still fascinates him.

He still paints and draws the nude female, every week, at the prestigious Mall Galleries. He also attends the life drawing sessions of the East London Strippers Collective and occasional similar erotic art groups.

Getting it all Together

Chris Francis’s Assemblages made with found objects including manufactured elements that come together to reproduce the similarities between the natural and the engineered.  Others combine diverse botanical items, additionaly, it may be a leaf, seed or nut together with a hand carved form
