Description
‘Nara’ – Erotic Sensual Colour Drawing in aquarelle pencils of actual exotic Brazilian model lying recumbant in the Life Studio: One of a number of erotic artworks created by Chris Francis during a lifetime studying and representing the female form in a sensitive manner using a range of means, methods, media and techniques.
Initial Studies
These sensual erotic works hark back to admiring the female figure as a teenager years at a boys’ grammar school but frustrated by not seeing the forbidden fruit.
Drawing the nude began at art school, honing technique and further enhanced by exploration and experimentation with various media on a degree-level art course. Then Chris was influenced by the Impressionists use of colour by Monet particularly and the structure of figures by Degas and Cezanne
Making Progess
Attending Life Drawing and Painting Sessions while working full-time, competence and confidence allowed him to represent the sensual female form in whole or part with of expressive colour, line and tone. These sessions continue to this day. ‘Nara’ – Erotic Sensual Colour Drawing was made in such a Life Studio. However he was a long-serving member of the Guild of Erotic Artists and attended other groups where sensual, erotic art was created. He has exhibited with the Guild in London, Brighton and St Albans, shown works annually at Erotic Art London in the Bargehouse beside the River Thamesand was in the Place des Suisse Artes, Lausanne.
Greater Intimacy
For a while, he rented a studio to further explore sensual erotic drawing and painting in Deptford SE London but now has a workshop in his home in Thamesmead. The more explicit depictions of the female provided a trigger to create abstract small exquisite and decorative assemblages focused on female genitalia and body parts including the Area of Male Attention (AroMA) series.
